Dentures

Dentures need not cause pain, nor look unnatural, interfere with speech or stop you from eating your favorite foods.  We use a method that ensures a fit that is superior to traditional methods of denture construction.

We use the highest quality artificial teeth to individually match to you for a natural appearance. Using the latest techniques, and modern technology, we can construct your dentures for a functional and comfortable fit.

No tic tac teeth here. Your face shape and complexion, comfort and function are important considerations when choosing teeth for your denture. By choosing the correct shape and sized teeth for your mouth and setting the teeth correctly we can ensure a natural appearance.

Complete:

A complete set is for people that have no natural teeth. A complete set comprises of an upper & lower denture. They are generally made from acrylic (plastic), and in some cases they can have a metal reinforcing mesh in the palate.  All dentures can be repaired and relined for a comfortable fit.

Full:

A full denture is for people that have no natural teeth in either their upper or lower jaw. A full denture can be either an upper or lower denture.

Partial:

Partial dentures are to replace missing teeth.  Each denture is individually designed for your comfort and function. Partial dentures can be made from acrylic (acrylic partials) or CobaltChrome (CoCr) metal partials.  Just like full dentures, partial of any sort can be repaired  and relined.

Acrylic Partials:- are constructed using the same acrylic that is used for the construction of full dentures and use S/S wire for the clasps (clips) that wrap around the teeth.  Additional teeth are easily added and fractures or breakages are easier to fix and less expensive compared to CoCr partials.

CoCr Partials:- is a cast metal framework to which the teeth are attached.  The clasps are cast as one with the framework.  This makes the denture stronger, slimmer and less prone to breakage.  This type of denture bares the biting forces on the natural teeth rather than the gums – this helps keep gums healthy.

Implant Retained:

These types of dentures can be used for the upper or lower jaw, for full or partial dentures.  They are used when dentures do not stay in the mouth and keep moving about due to resorbed bone.  In the construction of an implant retained denture, we incorporate the implant part into the acrylic or CoCr.  A dental surgeon will still have to insert the implant components into your jaw bone.

This is not a quick method due to the time it takes for the bone to grow around the implant.  This has to be done before we can start the process of making you your denture.

Maintenance:

Care and maintenance for full or partial dentures doesn’t have to be difficult or time consuming.

  1. Use warm soapy water and a soft toothbrush to clean your dentures daily. Cleaning morning and night is advised to remove any food particles.
  2. Don’t use a toothpaste as it abrades the acrylic creates a rough surface for plaque to build on to.
  3. Have regular yearly check ups to ensure you dentures’ fit and your bite is still functioning properly
  4. If they break, don’t try to fix them with super glue – the super glue is made from cyanide which is poisons.  The saliva in the mouth reacts with the glue to break it down and they will keep on breaking.
