A Dental Prosthetist is a person who can fit artificial dentures into a healthy person’s mouth without adjusting or altering the natural teeth or tissue in the mouth.
We provide all services from consultation, maintenance, repairs, new, relines to both partial and full dentures. We also manufacture custom fitted mouthguards to the sports person in a variety of colours and thicknesses depending on what sport is played.
We have a highly qualified and caring professional team with over 25 years combined experience. We only use the latest technology and materials in the construction of your dentures to ensure superior fit and natural aesthetics. We believe in every patient (being full payers or subsidised) getting high quality dentures.
No, you don’t. You are able to visit a prosthetist directly. Although you may be referred to a dentist by the Prosthetist if you natural teeth are suspect. Likewise a dentist can refer you to a prosthetist.
This is because you denture might not be fitting correctly and needs adjustment. A visit to a prosthetist may fix this problem.
Sore spots may be due to your dentures being loose and need adjustment such as relining or replacement. Your prosthetist may be able to ascertain what the problem is.
At Highlands Denture Clinic, we allow around 5-6 visits for a full set of dentures. Usually 1 visit per week.
Generally it will only take 1 day to repair a denture – be it a full or partial denture. However, repairs to dentures with metal framework may take longer.
Use warm, soapy water with a soft toothbrush morning and night to remove any food particles. Soak you dentures weekly in a denture cleaning solution eg Polydent. And remember, have regular check ups with our prosthetist.
The fit of your dentures should be checked annually.
Dentures should last between 5-7 years. They may need to be relined in this time due to illness or weight loss or other factors.
Yes you can. If you are a card holder of DVA or on the Pension you are eligible for this scheme.
